Kia ora koutou,

Join us in celebrating the week that was, in this week’s Friday 5:

1. On Monday 25th Oct, the CMDHB team kicked off a Māori led initiative, the campaign involves using Māori leaders and the Shot Cuz bus to move street to street in South Auckland suburbs with high numbers of Māori still to vaccinate. The key objective was to take good quality strength based covid vaccination information through korero into South Auckland streets and be able to answer any questions in a mana enhancing way. The team were able to successfully vaccinate 82 of the hard-to-reach whanau and 55% of the vaccinees were Māori. A massive ka pai to our Māori leaders for this successful Māori campaign and for being apart of the kaimahi on the day; Karl Snowden, Anthony Jordan, Summer Hawke, Dawson Ward and all the others that helped to ensure the success of this initiative!

2. Malu’I Ma’a Tongan event was held over the 21 - 23 October and a total of 3,423 doses were administered. Malo, to our Togan Community and Pacific Health Team for all their mahi!

3. We’ve launched a redesigned website - www.vaccinateforauckland.nz! The new design features an interactive vaccination centre map, tailored Māori, Pacific and ethnic communities focused content (including The COVID Kōrero video series) and lots of visual content for whānau.

4. The Disability team has been working closely with the Outreach team have visited 420 homes to date of people living with disabilities. A shout out from the Disability Team to Mary Gin in the Customer Experience Team for supporting clients with bookings if they require sign language interpreters / bookings for people who require low sensory environment!
