Kia ora koutou,

Welcome to this week’s edition of the Friday 5! Where we celebrate all the wonderful on-going work at the NRHCC.

1. In the lead up to Mental Health Awareness from 26th of September to 2nd October, we're sharing inspirational stories from New Zealanders and their top tips for reconnecting with the people and places that lift them up. Check out Catie's story about how she discovered a passion for poetry while going through treatment for bipolar disorder, and hear from the team behind Te Ara Tauwhirotanga, a model of care designed to better serve mental health and addictions service users and their whānau in the Te Whatu Ora Lakes district.

2. Our next Wellbeing Session will take place Wednesday 28th September, 2pm to 3pm.

Take Notice (Me Aro Tonu) – ‘remember the simple things that give you joy‘ Paying more attention to the present moment, to our thoughts and feelings and to the world around us boosts our wellbeing. It helps us to behave in ways that make us feel good about ourselves – ways that are consistent with our values and who we want to be. Taking notice can include gratitude, forgiveness, reflection and building a life that is meaningful to you.

We would love to see you in-person, to assist in engaging across this wellbeing theme. Weather dependent, we may step outside briefly to help us all participate in this activity.

Please email your EOI to GDavisCal@adhb.govt.nzif you would like to join in person.

3. To acknowledge Mental Health Awareness Week (MHAW), the Wellbeing Team will be hosting a fun “Speed Meet” event on Thursday 29th September that focuses on “Reconnecting with your Community”. The aim is to facilitate deeper connections between your own team and other NRHCC departments. The Speed Meet will take place on Level 6 from 2 to 3pm. We will provide remote access so that you can participate via Zoom if you are not in the office.

4. In the penultimate week for Step-tember, teams are moving at pace to obtain the coveted top of the leaderboard position. With one week to go we encourage teams to get on board the Waewae Express!

5. To acknowledge the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, on Tuesday 27th September we encourage all NRHCC staff to bring a beret, throw on a tiara, choose a cap or tip a top hat. We look forward to seeing all your honourable head gear in recognition of the Queen and her fabulous outfits.

With the end of the year fast approaching, the NRHCC Social Committee is busy planning the 2022 Christmas Party!

If you can, please complete the ‘Expression of Interest’ form by 4th October - Link to EOI https://forms.office.com/r/vtTWFjkL61

This allows us to have an indication of numbers and ensure that everyone is catered to.

And finally, haere ra to Lakeisha Fangaake (Customer Experience). Thank you for all your mahi during your time at the NRHCC, we wish you all the best in your future endeavours!

Wellbeing tip of the week: “Keeping your mind engaged with new ideas and experiences is an important part of your mental wellbeing. This could be as easy as doing a daily Sudoku, learning a new skill through an online tutorial or listening to an informative podcast.”

Please see the Health & Safety incident reporting form here

Have a lovely weekend everyone!

Ngā mihi,

The PMO Team
