Kia ora koutou,
Welcome to this week’s edition of the Friday 5! Where we will celebrate all the wonderful on-going work at the NRHCC.
1. The week started off with severe thunderstorms and heavy rain for the Northern Region. Many of our outdoor testing and vaccination sites were disrupted by the wild weather and some had to shut up shop and wait for the weather to pass and then deal with the after math. Bledisloe House also had flooding in the basement and our Logistics team worked quick to ensure our stock stayed dry!

2. Here’s a sneak peak behind the scenes of the production shoot for our upcoming campaign ‘The People’s Guide to COVID-19’. This campaign is designed to ensure people know what to expect and what they can do to look after themselves if they or their whānau get COVID-19. The campaign features a doctor, nurse, pharmacist and everyday Aucklanders sharing their personal experiences, and advice on how they managed symptoms and what they would do if the situation worsened. The campaign will include digital, social, video on demand, print and some out-of-home display in high foot traffic areas (e.g., supermarkets).

3. This week we have the first of at NRHCC All Staff weekly Huddles, each week we will have an update from the leadership team on NRHCCs plans and priorities, put a spotlight on some of the incredible work being done across the organisation. For our first Staff Huddle Dr Andrew Old provided an update on the latest Covid-19 modelling and what we can expect in the coming weeks based on what we have seen overseas. Make sure to join us next Monday 28 March 1.30pm for the next update!
4. Wednesday 23rd March was the 2-year anniversary for Jet Park our isolation facility which manages positive cases from overseas and in the Community. Over the past 2 years Jet Park has provided guests with a total of 90,756 nights in isolation with most guest staying an average of 14 nights in the facility. There have been just over 6,400 guests that have passed through the facility, thank you to our NMF staff who have been working to support all our guests through what can be a difficult time!

5. Thursday 24th March we acknowledged all our amazing kaimahi who have been working at the Airport Border over the past 2 years. The team supported a total of 320,326 passengers and a total of 6,771 flights to get kiwis home during a global pandemic! The Border team also supported with the Airport workers health surveillance screening and on their biggest day completed an outstanding 859 swabs in one day. A huge shoutout to the team who have played a central role in preventing Covid-19 from entering the community across the border. Thank you for all your hard mahi and keeping Aotearoa safe! The team has put together a short video of their time at the border over the past 2 years, please click here.

And finally haere ra to Dr Sarah Hartnall who will be leaving NRHCC next week. Sarah first joined NRHCC in the testing team and since has worked across the entire programme. Sarah is returning to her BAU role but we hope to see her around, thank you for all your mahi during your time at the NRHCC.

Reminder: For any teams with new starters or colleagues who aren’t on the existing distribution list please email these through to SRogers@adhb.govt.nz to be added to the Friday 5 distribution list.
