Kia ora koutou,

Welcome to this week’s edition of the Friday 5! Where we will celebrate all the wonderful on-going work at the NRHCC.

1. On Saturday 23rd July, Baderdrive Doctors, in partnership with the Samoan South Auckland Health committee, had a successful vaccination event delivering 408 Covid-19 vaccinations and 158 flu jabs. It was wonderful to see such a great turn out highlighting the importance of providers partnering up with communities!

2. Ka pai! To our amazing NRHCC Testing Ops, Logistics and Comms team who have distributed over 1.2 million medical and N95 masks out to CTCs and RCCs ! They have also provided kaimahi with comprehensive guidance on how to support the public in getting the right mask for their situation and how to use it safely.

3. Following our first ‘5 Ways to Wellbeing’ session in July, covering off the topic of ‘Connect’, in August, we will discuss the second theme: Keep Learning (Me Ako Tonu) - ‘Embrace new experiences, see opportunities and surprise yourself!’. Click here for more information.

Facilitator: Grant Davis-Calvert

When: Wed 10th Aug, 2.00pm – 3.00pm

Where: Totara Boardroom, Level 8 North Bledisloe House

There will be another two sessions: Understanding Equity (Thursday 11th August) and Team Building Activity (Friday 12th August). Please see below a calendar of the Well-being events for the month of August!

4. On Tuesday 16th July, our 4 new Community Connectors started, joining us from Pathways and Anglican Trust for Women & Children (ATWC). The Community Connectors will be working closely with Whānau HQ and the Residential Housing Team to support in addressing welfare concerns directly. This includes, but is not limited to financial support, housing support, provision of kai and referrals to other agencies as required.

5. Thursday 28th July was World Hepatitis C Day and this marked the official launch of the ‘Stick it to hep C’ campaign. Our NRHCC Outreach colleagues provided a demonstration on the ease of the Hepatitis C testing process. Moving forward our Outreach team will be proactively providing hep c testing to our high-risk and vulnerable populations. Approximately 40,000-45,000 New Zealanders are living with chronic hepatitis C. While some people with hepatitis C experience unusual tiredness, joint pain, loss of appetite, nausea and abdominal pain, many people don’t notice any symptoms until irreparable damage has occurred.

And finally, haere ra all our leavers this week! Sophie Puleston (Planning), Emily Wong (Workforce), Cassandra Luckwell (Planning) and Meg Poutasi (Director of Pacific Health). Thank you for all your mahi during your time at the NRHCC, we wish you all the best in your future endeavors!

Reminder: For those of you who wish to register for the Grand Millennium car parking pay deductions ($30 per week full-time or $24 per week part-time) you must complete the form by Friday 5th August 5pm. If you have any enquiries, please send your question to NRHCCworkforceresponses@adhb.co.nz

Have a lovely weekend everyone!

Ngā mihi,

The PMO Team
