Kia ora koutou,
Welcome to this week’s edition of the Friday 5! Where we will celebrate all the wonderful on-going work at the NRHCC.
On Thursday 12th May NRHCC celebrated International Nurses Day. The theme this year is ‘a voice to lead’ which is very appropriate given the considerable leadership nurses have shown, and continue to show, throughout our COVID-19 response. Our nurses should all be very proud of being part of a profession that cares and makes a difference every day. Thank you! Our Whanau HQ team celebrated the day and shared some of their thoughts on what the best thing about Nursing is and had a special guest join the team for the day.

2. On Saturday 7th May, the Minister for Pacific Peoples, Hon. Aupito William Sio attended the Pasefika Family Health Group & Samoa Tutū Fa’atasi i Manurewa community vaccination event to receive his free flu vaccination. Minister Aupito along with Dr Anthony Jordan, spoke to media about the importance of our Pacific people being vaccinated against flu this winter.

3. Our Outreach teams have been very busy and to date have delivered 49,316 doses, of which 4,689 doses were to Māori whanau and 6,223 administered to Pacific Peoples. The Vaccination programme priority continues to focus on our equity targets across our Māori and Pasifika communities. Malo to our Outreach colleagues for all your hard work! One of the teams received a special visitor – David Tua, who came to express his gratitude and thanks to the team for protecting Tāmaki Makaurau from Covid-19.

4. This week our People, Culture and Well-being team held a team potluck lunch and shared dishes from their cultures. Dishes ranged from ika mata, corn bread and dumplings! The team is leading by example and encouraging others to take time out of their workday to look after their well-being and come together as a team.
Reminder: NRHCC Wellbeing Day is on Thursday 19th May 2022

4. More Kiwis are being made eligible for free flu vaccinations and Dr Anthony Jordan has been doing media this week to launch the NRHCC flu campaign and out Māori and Pacific vaccination centres and events will now be offering the free flu vaccination to the eligible population.

5. The NRHCC Quality & Risk managers have now started and joined the team! The team will be looking after incident management and quality & risks across all programmes of work. Some of you may recognise these familiar faces around the office. Please say kia ora to our newly established team!

5. NRHCC will be celebrating Pink Shirt Day on Friday 20th May to show support to the anti-bullying cause. A prize will be awarded to the best dressed team, so get creative!

And finally, haere ra to Carla Penman and Monina Hernandez who will be leaving the NRHCC today. Monina joined as IP&C Clinical Nurse Specialist for MIQ in August 2020 and has been covering the MIQ Clinical Quality and Risk Manager role, before moving into the role of NRHCC Quality and Risk Manager for Whanau HQ and MIQ. We wish her well in her next life adventure! Carla joined the Communications team in September 2021 as our Communications Media Advisor as is leaving us to take up her next challenge of becoming a mum! We wish Carla all the best in her new journey.

Reminder: For any teams with new starters or colleagues who aren’t on the existing distribution list please email these through to SRogers@adhb.govt.nz to be added to the Friday 5 distribution list.
Have a lovely weekend everyone!
Ngā mihi,
The PMO Team
