Kia ora koutou,
Join us in celebrating the week that was, in this week’s Friday 5:
1. The latest ‘cab off the rank’ to get tāmaki makaurau vaccinated, was launched Friday 1 Oct with a new taxi service for those who haven’t been able to get to vaccination centres. The initiative is aimed at those people who have not yet had their first doses of the vaccine and who may have struggled to access the vaccination programme to date due to transportation or mobility issues

2. Jacques who is an Observer/Admin CIR superuser extraordinaire at our CBD site kindly dug up his own personal garden, hired a cargo van & after the centre was closed replanted and created this oasis in the middle of the new CBD site! He has continued to fertilize, water & care for this area for all staff to enjoy

3. Hugh’s Story was sent in from our WDHB Colleagues. Hugh’s mother wanted to discuss how she could get her adult son, Hugh vaccinated who is autistic and has a tendency to lash out when he gets distressed. They were really keen to get this done but due to our level 3 restrictions had a number of their own apprehensions and anxieties especially considering Hugh’s dislike of face masks. To help mitigate Hugh’s anxieties it was suggested they come to North Shore Airport Drive Through so Hugh could remain in his own space and not wear a face mask. The family were so grateful for the whole teams effort and extra attention to their situation and the special care that Hugh required. By the time they were ready for discharge Hugh was beginning to act like his normal self again. Our WDHB colleagues made sure they were able to provide the best service they possibly could to meet the needs of our service users! Well done to everyone involved
Feedback from Hugh’s Mum “Hi Vaughan a big thanks from us to you and your staff for the care you all took to support Hugh today and also for his first jab. It was so important to us to have him vaccinated and I really doubted that it would be possible. The relief is quite overwhelming. Once again the care of clinicians has quite possibly saved his life and we are hugely grateful. He had settled down by the time we got to Torbay for a walk in the sun and here's a photo of him back to his usual self 😊. Please pass on our thanks to all the lovely staff we met today and in particular the vaccinator as that can't have been easy!”
4. Thank you to our providers and partners for their creativity and collaboration in developing the bus wraps and incredible designs. The buses have received positive feedback and look great out in the community

5. This week the Northern Region hit the 2 million doses administered milestone! With our buses contributing to almost 4,500 doses in only 2 weeks, with almost 70% of these doses being administered to Māori and Pacific Peoples
Reminder: The Ministry of Health has issued updated COVID-19 testing guidance which includes a request for all staff involved in the vaccination work stream to have a one-off COVID 19 test in the next two weeks.
Have a good weekend everyone.
Ngā mihi,
The Vaxx Programme
2. Big shout out to our logistics vax supply team, who had their largest delivery day yesterday with 90 deliveries. Pai te mahi to Andy, Kelly, Prem & Daniel!
3. Tonight is the Tamaki Vaccination Centre late night, where night owls and late shift workers unite! The site is open all night from 8am today until 6.30am tomorrow morning. There’s entertainment in the early evening as well as a socially distanced sausage sizzle and coffee cart until 9pm - see the link below to the comms video:
4. Yesterday we passed 2 million doses in Auckland Metro, bringing our total doses to 2,006,994!
5. The Samoan Gala event held at Vodafone Events Centre was held over 6 days, finishing up on Wednesday. It was such a successful event, it was extended an extra 2 days due to high demand. Total doses came to just over 7,000! 48% of which were administered to Pacific Peoples!

This week we say harere ra to some wonderful colleagues! Lydia Aydon our Comms Lead who leaves us today and Ash Ford our HR Advisor whose last day is on Wednesday 13 Oct . We thank them for all their hard work and contributing efforts to the vaccine programme.
Big should out to Sarah Hartnell’s Mum who generously bought us a delicious cake on Wednesday!

Just to top off our Friday Five, here is some wonderful feedback from a client who visited the Tamaki Vaccination Centre recently:
Kia ora! I just wanted to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone at the Iwi-run Tamaki Vaccination Centre in St Johns. My children and I have just received our second shots there today. The Team was so helpful, upbeat and really made us feel at ease. We also loved the music ... it was a great distraction from feeling anxious. Stay safe everyone and again ... THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Have a lovely weekend everyone.
Ngā mihi
The Vaxx team
