Kia ora koutou,
Welcome to this week’s edition of the Friday 5! Where we will celebrate all the wonderful on-going work at the NRHCC.
Sunday 26th June the final guests checked out of MIQ marking the end of an era for Aotearoa, Auckland’s Holiday Inn, Jet Park, and Waipuna hotels were the last MIQ facilities in operation. The Northern Managed Facilities have played a significant role in the Covid response for NZ. NMF supported about 80% of the total number of people entering NZ over the last 2 years, more than 300,000 people and whānau who stayed across the 18 sites. A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to building NMF and maintaining the service and operations over the last two years.

2. Matariki weekend the outreach team were busy and attended the Kalayaan Matariki Cup 2022 at the Eventfinda stadium. There were hundreds of kids and adults and a mix of ethnic backgrounds. Teams from Tauranga and Franklin and many more flew into Auckland just to compete! The Outreach team has a great uptake for vaccines and hep C testing and a constant flow of people around the Outreach team and some people who were hesitant on the first day took a booklet and spoke the team eventually made the decision to get vaccinated.

3. Te Hā Oranga has also been out in the community delievering outreach to whānau depsite the recent weather conditions! Ka pai to the team.

4. The NRHCC Outreach team also visited the Wesley Market with the local Asian Community, through regular engagement with the community more people are attending to use the NRHCC outreach health services.

5. Today 1st July, we officially transition into Health New Zealand and the Māori Health Authority. The aim of Health NZ is to build a future health system that will preform better for all of us. Transforming the health system will create a more equitable, accessible, cohesive and people-centred system that will improve the health and wellbeing of all New Zealanders. There are strong expectations across our future health system to deliver care that will achieve better health outcomes for Māori and other groups who have not always been well served.
